Tournament
eligibility

This tournament is open to all members of the Iron Thong who have completed 5 or more rounds within the handicapping system and paid their $20 semi-yearly dues within the last six month period prior to tournament date. You will be required to pay the difference of $25 minus the number of rounds you played this season.

Local Rules for Tournament at Canyon Springs

This tournament will follow the local rules of Canyon Springs those rules are as follows:

1. Nature areas to the left or right of all fairways will be played as lateral hazards.  Therefore, you will drop a ball where it was presumed to have left play and take a 1 stroke penalty. Balls hit OB are still considered stroke and distance penalties. If you think you went OB, hit a provisional. If you hit your provisional OB, hit another. If you hit your third one OB, drop where it was presumed to have left play and take a 2 stroke penalty.

Skins and birdie pool

There will be the $5 skins pool and an optional $5 birdie & net pool open as normal -- however the $1 donation will not be required. We require that you pay $5 for the mandatory skins pool, and an optional $5 for the birdie pool.  We will pay out all skins for this tournament - there will be no money banked from the skins!

Breakfast tacos & beverages & awards ceremony

The Iron Thong will provide breakfast tacos and drinks before the tournament at John’s truck. Food & beverages will be available at Canyon Springs after the rounds from their full menu of items.

Please plan to have an extended stay after the tournament for skin and birdie payouts along with the award ceremony.  Like all our tournaments we will be shooting digital stills for the website -- so make sure you put on a happy face and your best golf attire.  We would like to add still pictures of the winners and wish "everyone" to be there after the round.  This shouldn't take much longer than a couple of hours.

Flighting & scoring

Determining flights will be handled by our system. The Iron Thong will be split up into 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 for flights A/B/C on tournament day. If we have 40 or more players, we will split into four flights. You will be playing in groups starting with the lowest handicap on up.  You will be assigned a cart and a cart partner based on your index on tournament day.  Your partner will score you and you will score your partner.  You will be scoring total strokes and putting strokes for each partner.  You will have a specialized Iron Thong score card for this purpose. You will receive your playing partner and cart assignments the week of the tournament in an email so you know who to hook-up with at the course to eliminate any confusion. In the event of a rules violation or a question concerning a rule you "must" consult the playing partners in your foursome and resolve it. If you cannot come to an agreement on a ruling, the player in question will play two balls and record both scores and annotate what happened. The Rules Committee will decide which score to count after the round. Their decision will be final.

100% USGA rules will be in effect, with the exception of local ground rules

In the event of a tie!

In the event of a tie the tie breaker for all ties in this tournament will be as follows: The Iron Thong will go back and see who wins each hole starting from the hardest to the easiest handicap holes on the score cards.

If there is a tie in fewest putts, the Iron Thong will compare the front nine, then the back nine, then by handicap hole to determine a winner.

After the round, check your cards, turn them in and get something to eat.  Expect to hang around for at least 2 hours after the round for the awards ceremony. The Awards ceremony itself normally takes at least an hour, so please plan on staying afterwards.  You never know, you may be the big winner.

The President of the club, Steve VanWert, will be handing out all awards.

Good luck!!! And hit them straight and long!!!!
